    Tickling Game

Garden Snail is a tickling game that will make your baby laugh and giggle every time you play it.

    Before the game:

    – It’s better to practice run and creep before playing the game commenting: “I am running, I am creeping”.

    – To show the pictures of a snail, a mouse, a house, a rail to the baby.

After playing the game the infant will want it over and over again. It’s important to chant when playing the game. Your voice tone will let the baby know that she is going to be tickled and it’s a good giggle! The game repeated many times, the baby will already know what to expect.

(Move fingers slowly walking up to the baby’s feet towards her tummy)

    Slowly, slowly, very slowly
    Creeps the garden snail.
    Slowly, slowly, very slowly
    Up the wooden rail.

(Move fingers, quickly walk up from baby’s tummy and tickle baby’s underarm)

    Quickly, quickly, very quickly
    Runs the little mouse.
    Quickly, quickly, very quickly
    Into his little house.

One more tickling game is Little Caterpillar.

Lie you baby on her tummy. She will laugh and want it over and over again. Say the rhyme while moving you fingers on the body parts of your baby. You can vary the words and add new parts of the body.

Little caterpillar is crawling on my hand,
Little caterpillar is crawling on my head,
Little caterpillar is crawling on my neck,
Little caterpillar is crawling on my back,
Little caterpillar is crawling on my leg,
Little caterpillar is crawling on my foot
    And tickling me right here!

    You should know

    – Finger action thymes are great for early language development and kinesthetic development.

    – Babies are learning to anticipate the actions by the repetition.

    – Rhymes, movement and bonding together develop the gyri of the baby’s brain. And  this will serve the child all her life.
